Adopt-a-Family Christmas Basket Program
This annual program offers the chance to “adopt” a family in our community and give them a brighter Christmas. Participants select their families anonymously, given only the ages and genders of family members. They then buy and wrap gifts for the family and deliver them, together with a food basket assembled by the parish, on the Saturday before Christmas.
Funeral Luncheons
Teams of workers provide funeral luncheons for the family and friends of parishioners who have died. The teams set up Apostles Hall for the luncheons, prepare and serve the food, and clean up afterwards. Call the parish office if you are interested in serving on a team or if we could call on you to help provide desserts for the luncheons.
Ministry of Consolation
Parishioners trained in this ministry reach out to the bereaved through cards, meals, prayer, and other kinds of support. Contact Vanessa Booth at vbooth@ssppcatholic.com for information on Group Support sessions or training sessions.
Visitors to the Sick and Homebound
If you would consider visiting the sick or homebound in the name of SSPP, please call the parish office. Your ministry could, but would not necessarily, involve bringing the Eucharist to people.
Knights of Columbus
Knights of Columbus is a worldwide fraternal organization of Catholic men that promotes vocations, prayer, family life, religious education, parish life, and community involvement. The local K of C chapter meets in the Veritas Room of the school building on the first Tuesday of each month.
Other Opportunities
Christian Service opportunities in the wider community include the Christian Service Center, the CROP Walk, Ionia Community Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen, and Prison and Jail Ministry. Contact the parish office for more information.
